A young woman is facing charges after a man was stabbed in downtown Victoria Tuesday night.

Witnesses called police when they saw two people arguing in the 500-block of Pandora Ave. at about 5:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a 39-year-old man bleeding from two stab wounds to his chest.

The man was rushed to Victoria General Hospital where he was treated, and released later that night.

The following morning, police arrested a suspect, a 21-year-old woman at about 9 a.m. in the 1600-block of Cook St. They are recommending charges of assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm against her.

Officers said the man and woman likely knew each other, but couldn’t confirm a motive for the alleged attack.
