A pair of boats remain partially submerged near the entrance to the Oak Bay Marina.

Transport Canada says it’s simply monitoring a pair of sunken boats off Beach Drive in Oak Bay.

The sunken vessels are licensed, confirmed Sau Sau Liu, regional communications officer with Transport Canada.

Transport Canada has attempted on multiple occasions to contact the owners listed on the licences, Liu said in an email.

“Transport Canada has no authority to remove any vessel unless they are obstructing navigation,” Liu added. “At this time, they are not considered obstructions, but we will continue to monitor them.”

The vessels, one sailboat and a powerboat, were reported to Transport Canada in March.
