Thefts from vehicles, homes keep cops busy

Unlocked doors continue to offer thieves free reign

Of nine thefts from vehicles reported to police last week, eight of the owners admitted they had left them unlocked.

Among the property stolen were an empty Louis Vuitton purse, an expensive survival kit, a Garmin GPS, an iPod, tools, a laptop computer and a power washer. Police remind residents and visitors to lock their vehicles, even if only leaving for a short time.

Police also investigated five residential break-and-enters, including four in which the owners left a door unlocked. Unsecured homes on Lyn Crescent (Sept. 6), Granite Street and Somass Drive (both Sept. 8), and Lorne Terrace (Sept. 9) were targeted, with laptop computers and jewelry the main items stolen.
