A 56-year-old woman suffered serious injuries after falling down an embankment near Coopers Cove area on Wednesday morning.

Sooke Fire Rescue arrived at Coopers Cove near the Galloping Goose trail around 11:45 a.m. to assist B.C. Ambulance paramedics with the rescue.

“[The terrain is] difficult to access. We can get our smaller unit in there, got a crew of five there supporting B.C. ambulance,” said Sooke Fire Chief Kenn Mount, adding the woman may have a “possibly serious leg injury.”

Mount said it is unknown at this time if she fell in the water.
