Just after noon today (Thursday) Saanich firefighters responded to a kitchen fire in the 100-block of Crease Avenue.
Two engines and two ladder trucks arrived at the single-storey home to find smoke billowing out of the residence.
The fire was quickly contained to the kitchen and was extinguished, though the rest of the house sustained heavy smoke damage.
One resident, an adult male who was inside the home at the time of the fire, suffered minor smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital.
Damage is estimated at $75,000. The exact cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
