Rec centre pool closed into 2017

Oak Bay passes are valid at any municipal recreation pool in Greater Victoria as well as the Victoria and Langford

Oak Bay pool is closed for the rest of the year.

The pool was emptied to find the source of a leak discovered Nov. 29 after patrons noticed the water was cool.

Tuesday the source of the leak was found with the use of sonar detection.

“The  repair will require some excavation,” said Janet Barclay, Manager, Recreation Program Services for Oak Bay. “This will allow staff to  examine the full extent of the problem. Once repaired, the area will need  re-cementing  and re-tiling.”

While the exact date of reopening remains unknown, the Oak Bay Recreation Centre pool will remain closed into 2017.

Oak Bay passes are valid at any municipal recreation pool in Greater Victoria as well as the Victoria and Langford YM-YWCAs.
