The Mayor’s Task Force on Community Engagement began a consulting initiative with Oak Bay residents to get feedback on how they would like to have input on services and policies that affect their lives.

“We are making it easy for people to share their ideas — we’re popping up at rec centres, village areas, sports events, and public parks and spaces,” said Coun. Tara Ney, chair of the Mayor’s Task Force on Public Engagement.

This Saturday (May 5) they will be at the Oak Bay Recreation Centre by the main entrance from 10 a.m.- 12 p.m..

“We’ve had a terrific uptake so far, with almost 200 responses. But we intend to expand our reach over the coming weeks with more pop-ups throughout the community and encouraging online survey responses,” said Ney.

A booth will also be set up at Oak Bay Village Food Fest on May 12, at Oak Bay Municipal Hall during tax time (week of May 21), at the Oak Bay Library (TBD), and will also show up at other venues as schedules and events permit.

“I am impressed with the range of people who are making thoughtful and relevant contributions — young parents (with children in tow), grandparents, youth, people in a hurry and people out for a stroll,” said Ney.

An online survey is at www.oakbay.ca and hard copy versions are available at municipal hall, 2167 Oak Bay Ave..
