A driver down a headlight prompted a police stop on Feb. 5 around 3:15 a.m.

Oak Bay officers were on patrol near Oak Bay Avenue and Hampshire Road and saw a 2005 Porsche with only one working headlight. The officers pulled the driver over and while speaking to her detected the smell of alcohol. A roadside test resulted in the 20-year-old being issued a 24-hour driving prohibition. The woman’s licence was seized for 24 hours, and the vehicle was towed and impounded for 24 hours.

Theft from vehicle, maybe

Oak Bay police were called for the report of a theft from a vehicle in the 2000-block of Townley Street on Feb. 2 at 6:30 a.m. The individual reported their vehicle had been entered sometime overnight. The vehicle was not damaged, and the vehicle owner was unsure if anything had been stolen. It was among the 72 OBPD calls for service week of Jan. 30 to Feb. 5.

Officers happily strike out

Drivers were A-OK as officers set up a late-night traffic stop in the 3000-block of Foul Bay Road on Feb. 4.

After 10:30 p.m., officers stopped about 100 cars to check for seatbelt use, valid insurance and potentially impaired drivers.

No tickets were issued under those offences.
