Assault charges stem
from clash of the boyfriends
Something old and something new clashed at an Oak Bay residence last weekend.
When the 26-year-old former boyfriend of a woman who lives in the 3500-block of Henderson Road arrived at her house, a dispute erupted between him, her current boyfriend and his male friend.
Police were called to the house at 5 a.m. on Saturday in response to a fight that involved vehicle damage.
Oak Bay police are recommending charges of mischief and uttering threats against the woman’s current boyfriend, a 24-year-old Victoria man, who allegedly punched and kicked the ex-boyfriend’s car. The friend, a 30-year-old man from Oak Bay, faces one charge of assault for punching the ex.
New driver causes pileup
Four vehicles were damaged in a domino-effect collision on Foul Bay Road late last week.
At 5:20 p.m. on Thursday, four vehicles were stopped at Foul Bay Road and Neil Street, as the front car waited to turn left.
A fifth vehicle, driven by an 18-year-old Victoria man, came up from behind and failed to stop in the rain.
One car bumped into another, with the only one missed being the vehicle at the front of the line.
Police say the crash caused thousands of dollars in damage and many of the vehicles’ occupants reported minor whiplash injuries.
The young driver could be charged with driving too fast for the road conditions, or driving without due care and attention under the Motor Vehicle Act.
