Music merriment swiped at UVic

On Feb. 27, Oak Bay police were called to UVic for a report of two saxophones were stolen out of lockers in the music building. The instruments were recovered by Victoria Police Department the following day and returned to their owners.

Alarms double up at Oak Bay High

A pair of pulled fire alarms at Oak Bay High are under investigation after the second went off Feb. 28. Oak Bay Fire Department advised it was the second in as many days, warranting a look from police.

Sobering up in local cells

On March 2, police were called to a church on Haultain for an intoxicated male refusing to leave. Oak Bay officers determined the male was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was arrested and lodged in cells until sober.

Drug use suspected in man’s inappropriate acts

On March 2, police were called to an area between the high school and a business, where a male was exposed and acting inappropriately. Officers determined the male was under the influence of crystal meth. He was taken to a support agency.

90-day prohibition issued on Beach Drive Saturday

Oak Bay police issued a prohibition and towed a vehicle from Beach Drive March 3. Police stopped a vehicle near Beresford and the officer noted the smell of liquor on the driver’s breath. The driver provided two breath samples that both registered a fail. An open can of liquor was found in the vehicle. The driver is now prohibited from driving for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
