Pulling up park stakes

Police plan to monitor Uplands Park’s central meadow after someone pulled up stakes marking off sensitive areas. Oak Bay police were called to Uplands Park for a report of mischief when parks staff found the stakes out of place. Police discourage anyone from interfering with the maintenance of the park.

Cops offers soothing talk

On Nov. 21, police were called to Cadboro Bay Road near Lansdowne Road for a report of a distraught male without a shirt smashing the bushes with his walker. Officers spoke with the male and calmed him down to the point where he could be sent on his way without further incident.

Property dispute

On Nov. 21, police were called to an apartment in the 2000 block of Oak Bay Avenue for a property dispute between two tenants of the same suite. After lengthy discussion, police were able to facilitate a resolution where both parties were satisfied.

Bike swiped

On Nov. 20, police were advised of a break and enter to a storage area in the 1500 block of Clive Drive some time in the past week. The suspect pried open the lock to gain access and stole a silver women’s Norco bicycle. The file is still under investigation.

Coin bucket caper

Charges are pending after a Nov. 20, received a report of a break and enter to a residence in the 2000 block of Lorne Terrace. The suspect entered the house and began going through a bucket of loose coins, say police. The home owner challenged the male, who left on foot. The resident and intruder are known to each other.

Deer chase

On Nov. 21, police attended the corner of St. Ann and Bowker where a cyclist had been knocked over by a deer. The female rider came around the corner onto southbound St Anne. The buck, in the company of a doe and fawn, charged the cyclist knocking her off her bicycle. Nearby residents provided a blanket and comfort to the lady, who was taken to hospital for examination. She suffered a shoulder injury and a mild concussion. BC Conservation Service was advised.

Crash closes Beach Drive

On Nov. 22, police were called to the 2000 block of Beach Drive after a vehicle crashed into a house, rupturing the natural gas line. The area was blocked off from vehicular traffic while the gas line was repaired. The male driver stated he had attempted to overtake a slower vehicle and had lost control of his own, resulting in the crash. He was issued three violation tickets and the vehicle was towed.
