Oak Bay Police remind residents once again to lock their car doors after police received seven reports of theft from vehicles on Oct. 29 – all from unlocked vehicles.
Areas targeted included Falkland Road, Oliver Street, Oak Bay Avenue, Clive Drive, Eastdowne Road, Haultain Street, and the 1400 block of Beach Drive.

Fraudster asks for $300
Oak Bay Police also received a complaint of a fraud on Oct. 29.
According to police, the complainant was told he had won a sum of money, and the shipper was asking for $300 in Amazon gift cards to cover the delivery costs.
“If someone asks you to pay for anything using any gift cards, it’s a scam,” said Deputy Chief Ray Bernoties.
Child riding bike runs into car
A child riding a bike on the sidewalk ran into a car that had turned into his driveway on Nov. 1.
According to police, the child was talking to friends and not paying attention.
“Fortunately, his injury was only minor,” said Bernoties.
Quiet Halloween
According to police, Oak Bay’s Halloween was not busier than any other night for police officers.
Oak Bay Police attended a total of 110 calls for service between Oct. 29 and Nov. 4.
