Police briefs: Drunk youth taken to hospital

Drunk youth injured

An intoxicated youth was taken to hospital the first day of school.

Sept. 4, police were called to the 2200 block of Cedar Hill X Rd. for a male in the ditch. Officers discovered an intoxicated youth who had fallen off a cement wall. He was taken to hospital and later released.

Cyclist struck

Oak Bay police remind residents to spot cyclists after one was hit Sept. 7 at the intersection of Cedar Hill X and Henderson roads. The cyclist was southbound on Henderson when he was struck by a driver turning left. Police remind drivers to be extra diligent as weather turns wet and foggy.

CRA scammers get cash

Sept. 7, police dealt with another CRA scam and the complainant was out $2,000. The Oak Bay Police want to remind everyone again that the CRA will not ask for money over the phone and would never accept iTune Cards as payment.

Files swiped on construction site

Oak Bay police continue to investigate after a laser and files were reported stolen Sept. 4 from a construction site. A suspect entered an office in the 1700 block of Beach Drive and stole a Hilti Laser worth $3,500 and files.

Fence damaged

Sept. 4, police attended the 2000 block of Cedar Hill X Rd. for a mischief. There was damage to the flower bed and a piece of fence was located across the street.

Car window smashed

Sept. 4, police attended the 1100 block of Newport Road for a theft from auto complaint. Entry was gained by breaking the drivers’ side window. A small amount of change was reported stolen.

Report suspicious incidents

On Sept. 4, police were called to the 2500 block of Cranmore Road for a report of a male touching himself inappropriately while speaking to a female. Oak Bay police ask anyone who observes anything suspicious to call them, 250-592-2424.

Bike thefts

A bike was discovered stolen Sept. 4 from an unlocked shed on private property in the 2200 block of Cranmore. A white Norco speed bike was stolen and two others left behind.

A Burgundy Norco Tango was swiped from Oak Bay Recreation Centre Sept. 7. The bike was locked up on the Goldsmith Road side side. suspect.

Beer theft

Oak Bay police were called Sept. 8 when a male stole a pack of beer from the Liquor Store in the 2100 block of Oak Bay Ave. The theft is still under investigation.

Lock your doors

Police reiterate reminders to lock vehicles after a pair of thefts last week.

Sept. 9, police responded to two thefts from autos in the 2200 block of Cranmore. Both vehicles were parked on the street and unlocked.
