Police briefs: Driver found slumped behind the wheel

Suspected impaired driver, stolen bikes, camera found

Bikes stolen

A silver single-speed men’s Felt Brougham bike with a large LED taillight of “Mutual of Enumclaw” was stolen from the 1200-block of Beach Drive on March 13.

A red Norco tandem bike was stolen sometime overnight on March 16 from Oak Bay High School.

Please call the Oak Bay Police Department if you see these distinctive bikes.

Peaceful protest

The UVic Indigenous Law Students Association hosted a peaceful protest at the University of Victoria on March 14. The Oak Bay Police assisted the organizers by ensuring the safe movement of pedestrians and vehicles on campus during the demonstration.

Driver slumped behind the wheel

A concerned resident reported an impaired driver parked in the 2600-block of Foul Bay Road as the driver was slumped over behind the wheel of a vehicle. The Oak Bay Police found the driver, and after an investigation the driver’s licence was seized, his vehicle was impounded for 30 days, and he was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition.

Camera found

A camera was found on Oak Bay Avenue and turned into Oak Bay Police on March 16. It has many family vacation type photos on it. Call the Oak Bay Police at 250-592-2424 if you lost your camera and can describe the camera and picture contents.
