Oak Bay police are investigating a brazen daytime bike theft. On Jan. 23 around 10 a.m. Someone was seen to riding up to the covered bike stand at Oak Bay Recreation Centre on a bike, grinding the lock off a second bike, and leaving with both bikes. The missing bike is a lime green Norco.

Refusal to blow nets 90-day suspension

Dim headlights initiated a police stop Jan. 23 where a driver was issued a roadside driving prohibition.

Police noticed the car around 8:30 p.m. on Beach Drive at Windsor Road and stopped the vehicle. Police noted the driver had a strong odour of alcohol on her breath and that she displayed glassy eyes and slurred speech. The driver refused to provide a breath sample and was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and her motor vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Sober driver gets them home

One driver got away with his car despite blowing a ‘warn’ in a roadside screening.

The vehicle and its three occupants stopped Jan. 27 at 8:25 p.m. for Oak Bay Police conducting a roadblock on Beach Drive near Goodwin Street. The man driving blew a ‘warn’ and was issued a three-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition. The vehicle was not impounded, as a sober driver was available.
