Picket fence carried off in weekend mischief case

Neighbour finds lifted fence section in the back of his pickup

Oak Bay police suspect intoxicated teens are to blame for a picket fence that disappeared in the night over the weekend, only to resurface in the back of a resident's pickup truck the next day.

A Hampshire Road resident woke up Sunday morning to discover a large section of his picket fence had been stolen.

However, it didn't get far. A neighbour found the fencing in the back of his truck.

"We had a few incidents of drunk (teens) in south Oak Bay over the weekend and that's likely what it is," said Deputy Chief Kent Thom. "That's just consistent with the kind of prank that drunk kids walking through the neighbourhood will commit."
