Parolee back in police custody

Benjamin Schooner arrested by Oak Bay Police

A 22-year-old man was arrested in the early morning on Feb. 15 on an outstanding Canada-wide warrant.

Benjamin Schooner has a criminal history spanning the last nine years that includes convictions for robbery, weapons and assault. At the time of his arrest, he was found to be in possession of “break-in” tools, said police.

Schooner, who is on parole after serving a 40-month sentence for multiple robberies and assaulting a police officer had walked away from a Victoria Community Residential facility earlier in the week. He went before a judge later the same day and was remanded in custody.
