Old man convicted of watching kids in bathroom

A Saanich senior was convicted of secretly spying on people using washrooms at Mayfair Mall and impersonating a security guard to do so.

David Alan Jacob, 71, was found guilty in February and will be sentenced later this year.

Victoria and Saanich police watched Jacob after receiving complaints he was leering at children. He was arrested at Mayfair in October 2009.

Since then, his private investigator's licence has been revoked, his teaching certificate was nullified and his job with the Commissionaires terminated.

Voyeurism carries a maximum sentence of five years. The maximum for impersonation is 10 years.
