Bike swiped from high school

Someone forced a lock to take a bike at Oak Bay High last week. Oak Bay Police Department responded to the April 10 report of the theft from a designated bicycle rack area at the school on Cadboro Bay Road. The bike is a bright green 2007 Norco Big Foot with hydraulic disc brakes, black suspension with white lettering, black seat and black rims.

Road blocks stop three drivers

A pair of drivers hit a police roadblock April 12 earning driving prohibitions.

The Oak Bay Police conducted a roadblock in the 1300 block of Beach Drive and issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and impounded the vehicle for 30 days. A three-day IRP was also served to another driver. During a third roadblock in the 1300 block of Beach Drive on April 13 the police served another three-day IRP.

‘Care and control’ warrants IRP

Sleeping in the drivers seat proved costly April 16.

While conducting routine patrols in the 3400-block of Beach Drive an Oak Bay police officer spotted a lone male slumped over in the driver’s seat while the engine was running. The vehicle’s doors were locked and the officer had to repeatedly knock on the widows to eventually wake the driver. An odour of liquor emanated from the vehicle and the officer observed a partially consumed bottle of vodka next to the driver. Police found the driver was in Care and Control of the vehicle and he was served a 90-day IRP and a 30-day vehicle impoundment.
