Mind your speedometer

A portable speed reader should soon be in place in Oak Bay.

The Oak Bay Police Department was given the go-ahead by council to purchase a Speed Sentry by Megatech Industries of Edmonton, at a cost of $6,135.

Interim police Chief Derek Egan made the case for purchase of the reader, an electronic sensor which calculates and displays the speed of approaching vehicles.

Oak Bay’s previous reader was not serviceable and had not been used in two years.
