Glass weapon of choice in domestic assault

A domestic assault in Oak Bay landed a woman in cuffs and a man with cuts.

Oak Bay police rushed to the 2600 block of Eastdowne Road at 1 p.m. on Saturday after the man called 9-1-1 to report he had been slashed in the head with a piece of glass. When officers arrived they found him with some serious gashes. An ambulance rushed him to Royal Jubilee Hospital for treatment.

The 51-year-old woman at the residence was charged with assault causing bodily harm. She was taken to jail, but soon released from police custody following a telebail hearing. Part of that release entails not contacting the man from the incident. She’ll face court at the end of May.

Police say they’ve been called to incidents at the Eastdowne address in the past.
