Free swimming launches pool reopening

Oak Bay’s aquatic centre remains closed with excavation underway to repair the leak found this week by sonar after the search started Nov. 29. A reopening date is still uncertain.

Oak Bay pool was emptied to find the source of a leak discovered Nov. 29.

The damage was discovered and repaired. With the pool drained and dry, they took the time to do regular maintenance, eliminating the need for another closure in June.

Recreation Oak Bay invites everyone to celebrate the reopening with adult lengths swim from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., an Everyone Welcome swim at 6:30 p.m., Length and Leisure from 9:30 to 11 p.m. or at the Late-night Swim from 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Regular pool schedules, including lessons, resume Saturday, Jan. 7.
