Family fun at Saanich cycling festival

The event runs this Sunday (April 22) from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the University of Victoria.

Pump your tires full of air, make sure your brakes are working and put your helmet on for the third annual Saanich Cycling Festival.

The event runs this Sunday (April 22) from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the University of Victoria.

Two family-friendly rides will be held: a short 15-minute kids route around the campus, and a 4.9-km route for cyclists seven years and older along Shelbourne Street and McKenzie Avenue. The long ride begins at the Camosun College Landsdowne campus.

Saanich police will be on hand to stop traffic in the area to ensure cyclists’ safety.

Following the ride, UVic’s parking lot No. 10 will play host to games, entertainment and bike demonstrations to help provide a festival atmosphere during the Earth Day event. For more information, visit saanichcyclingfestival.ca.
