Fall back, check your smoke alarm

Fall back, check your smoke alarm

Daylight Savings Time ends Sunday at 2 a.m.

Before you fall back this weekend, don’t forget to change your smoke alarm’s batteries.

The City of Victoria wants to remind you to test your smoke alarms monthly, and change its batteries routinely when you change your clocks in the spring and fall. Daylight Savings Time ends and clocks are turned back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday.

You can arrange for free home smoke alarm home visit by a Fire Prevention Officer to help you find the best place to install your alarms or test them. If you need a new alarm and live in a single family home, duplex or townhouse, you might be able to get one for free.
