A young man spied by two young girls “performing an indecent act” is not likely the same man who’s been masturbating in front of Asian girls at bus stops in Victoria and Saanich.
But Oak Bay police aren’t ruling out the possibility.
“Although the descriptions are quite different, sometimes young people can be not super-accurate with descriptions given,” Deputy Chief Kent Thom said.
The girls were walking in the Cadboro Bay Road and Hamiota Street neighbourhood at about 7 p.m. last Thursday when they noticed a man masturbating in a small grey car parked on Cadboro Bay Road. The only description was that the person was between 16 and 20 years old and wore brown, plaid baggy shorts and a white T-shirt.
A series of events in recent months have involved a man masturbating in public at bus stops around town. That suspect is described as Caucasian, between the ages of 20 and 30, about 5’6” to 6’0”, weighing between 190 and 220 pounds.
Thom doesn’t believe the man involved in the April 26 incident was the same person who in January hit a 14-year-old girl and tried to abduct her, a block away at Cadboro Bay Road and Estevan Avenue.
That time the attacker was scared off by an approaching pedestrian. The suspect was described as about 20 years old, but had a goatee and was wearing a dark hoodie.
Investigators are following leads in both cases, Thom said.
