A cyclist found himself airborne and rolling atop a car in a crash last weekend.
The rider was heading east on Oak Bay Avenue when a westbound Nissan Altima turned left at Oliver Street directly in front of him. The bike hit the car’s passenger side front corner and the 32-year-old rider flew up into the windshield. He rolled over the roof, hit the trunk and fell to the pavement.
“Remarkably, the cyclist got up and his only complaint was a sore back,” reported Oak Bay police Sgt. Ray Maxwell.
The 90-year-old driver was handed a $167 fine for failing to yield, but police aren’t recommending that his driving skills be tested.
