UPDATE: Body in McNeill Bay confirmed that of missing man

The body found in McNeill Bay Sunday evening is that of a man reported missing last month.

Police do not suspesct foul play in the death of Ronald Merner, 56 of Oak Bay.

On April 30 shortly before 6 p.m., a citizen near the water of McNeill Bay spotted the body in the water close to shore.

Oak Bay police and Oak Bay fire removed the body which appears to be that of a caucasian male. Oak Bay and Saanich police departments, with the BC Coroner Service, are working to identify the person and determine how the body entered the water.

The Oak Bay Police Department is currently conducting a missing person investigation in which Ronald Merner, 56, was reported missing on April 21 and last seen in the McNeill Bay area.
