Cops checking for poor driving in lead-up to Christmas

Drunk driving and bad behaviour in police's sights

Police throughout the Capital Region, including Oak Bay, will be enhancing their efforts toward detecting impaired drivers during the holiday season.

“At this time of year all police departments in the Capital Region do more,” said Oak Bay Police Sgt. Don Symes. “We have enhanced Counter Attack (road checks for drinking drivers) during the holiday season in conjunction with other departments. Everybody steps up road blocks and enforcement.”

Police encourage all motorists to plan ahead and arrange for public transportation or a designated driver if alcohol consumption will be part of the festivities.
