Cops bust 'major cocaine dealer'

Drugs, cash and ammunition seized from Saanich house, VicPD says

The Greater Victoria Emergency Response team say they arrested a major cocaine dealer last week.

After raiding a Saanich home in the 4000-block of Martha Cres. last Friday afternoon the team seized two kilograms of cocaine, large amounts of oxycodone, ketamine and other drugs, about $100,000 in cash, and 250 rounds of handgun ammunition.

The police arrested a 28-year-old Saanich man they described as a multi-kilogram cocaine dealer.  Police estimate the drugs are worth $100,000.

The arrest and drug haul was a result of VicPd Street Crime and Strike Force surveillance that resulted in a Oct. 11 search of a Yates Street apartment where two "dial-a-dope" dealers who supplied the downtown core were busted.  They got their drugs from the Martha Crescent resident.

Although the Saanich man faces six charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking he was released on a promise to appear in court on Jan. 12.
