Bystanders come to aid of lost, confused naked woman

Incident does not appear to be drug or alcohol related, say Victoria police

Good Samaritans are being credited with helping a naked woman found wandering the parking lot of a building near Gorge Road East and Jutland Road.

When Victoria police arrived at 12:45 a.m. on Dec. 29, two men were bringing the agitated and confused woman a blanket.

The woman recalled being very sick earlier in the day and may have fallen down a flight of stairs.

“The incident did not appear to be drug or alcohol related,” Deputy Police Chief John Ducker said on the Victoria Police Department’s operations blog.

A medical exam at Victoria General Hospital revealed bruising on her body and bumps to her head.

Officers eventually traced the woman to a residence in a building near where she had been found. “A babysitter was found there with the woman’s young child,” Ducker wrote.

Police were waiting to learn the doctor's diagnosis, said Const. Mike Russell, VicPD spokesperson.
