Causton retains his authority as mayor until his replacement is sworn in prior to the inaugural meeting. This year, Oak Bay’s inaugural council meeting will take place in council chambers at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5, when all new councillors and the new mayor, chosen in the Nov. 19 municipal election, will be sworn in.
