Start the new year by making the switch

Victoria pet store, A Pet’s Life, suggests adding ‘switch my dog to raw’ to your 2022 resolutions!

It’s that time of year where we all start considering our resolutions for 2022. Start your pup off on the right paw and consider a raw diet to help keep them healthy and happy. There are many benefits to a raw ancestorial diet for your four-legged friend and making the change from kibble is as easy as one, two, three!

The benefits of a raw diet

A raw diet has many benefits for your pet including a healthier skin and coat, enhanced hydration, improved digestion and a healthier gut microbiome, smaller, less frequent more consistent and less smelly stools, fresh breath and cleaner teeth, increased energy and stamina, improved weight management, improvement in allergy symptoms and ultimately less visits to the vet!

How to make the switch

To get started, select an easily digestible raw protein (we recommend turkey or rabbit) to feed for the first two weeks. Be sure to include puréed pumpkin and a Slippery Elm supplement for those first fourteen days to ensure a smooth transition. Calculate your dog’s daily feeding amount using the feeding guideline below!

Switching you dog is as easy as one, two, three!

1. Feed your dog half of their regular meal for breakfast.

2. Time to make the switch! For dinner, feed your dog half of their recommended daily raw amount.

3. Congratulations, your dog is now on raw! Moving forward continue to feed your dog

raw once or twice per day, we recommend feeding 2-3% of your pet’s weight.

Make the switch this year, they will thank you.
