The Victoria Airport Authority announced changes to its board of directors Friday, as two new faces join the table.

In a release, the VAA welcomed Allan Haynes and Paul Gerrard to the not-for-profit authority, which has managed airport operations since 1997, on behalf of the region’s communities.

Representing Saanich, Haynes previously served as chair of the Passenger Marketing Committee of the Comox Valley Airport as well as a marketing consultant for the International Air Transport Association.

Haynes is also a familiar name in Sidney, where he writes and directs for the Peninsula Players, a community theatre group.

“The aviation industry has always been a passion of mine, so it is a privilege to serve on the Victoria Airport Authority Board of Directors,” said Haynes, whose position was effective Oct. 16.

Gerrard previously served as a councillor for the District of Saanich from 2008 until 2014.

“Victoria International Airport will be seeing some major growth in the coming years, and I hope to bring my construction expertise to the boardroom discussions,” Gerrard said.
