Two cougar sightings within 10 hours near popular Saanich park

Police are warning residents near PKOLS to be cautious and secure small pets after two cougar sightings were reported less than 10 hours apart. (Pixabay stock photo)

Saanich police are urging members of the public to be careful after two reported cougar sightings within 10 hours near PKOLS.

On Monday (July 10), the Saanich Police Department received a report at approximately 9 p.m. about a cougar sighting in the 4400-block of Cedar Hill Road.

Officers did not locate the cat but notified B.C. conservation officers of the sighting.

On Tuesday morning, at approximately 6 a.m., police received information on a second reported cougar sighting near the park, this time in the 4100-block of Glendenning Road.

Members of the department attended but did not locate a cougar. Conservation was also notified of the second sighting.

Police are advising residents to use caution while walking in the area and to secure any small pets.
