South Island braces for windy Wednesday with gusts to 90 km/h

Southeast winds up to 70 km/h gusting to 90 are expected across Greater Victoria

Residents on the south Island as far north as Cobble Hill should brace for winds Wednesday (Oct. 30).

Southeast winds up to 70 km/h gusting to 90 over exposed coastal areas and near Haro Strait are expected starting in the morning, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.

The east section of Vancouver Island from Nanoose Bay to Campbell River will also see breezy conditions.

Winds are expected to ease in the afternoon.

Those heading out to bonfires, street parties or trick-or-treating on Halloween can expect cloudy skies and a little rain with a high of 11 C and low of 7 C in Greater Victoria.
