Sidney set to rock n' roll at Vintage Fair opening night

The two-day Vintage Fair & Entertainment returns to the Mary Winspear Centre on Feb. 21 & 22

Mary Winspear Centre will host Sidney's largest winter Vintage Fair on Friday (Feb. 21) and Saturday (Feb. 22).

The two-day event begins on Friday night from 7 to 10 p.m. with Sip N' Shop, where fairgoers can enjoy Beacon Brewery's craft beer with live music.

The Cavaleros trio of Eddie on guitar, Soda Pop on drums and Johnny on bass, will play their special brand of instrumental rockabilly, surf, swing and rock and roll music live on stage.

On Saturday, at least 80 vendors will be selling retro toys, vinyl, video games, clothing and more.

A fashion show begins the day at 11:30 a.m., followed by a Polynesian dance performance by Aloha Fit in the tiki section and Roller Skate Victoria takes the stage at 1:30 p.m.

In between shopping, satisfy your hunger with delicious bites from three food trucks in the courtyard, where you can also browse a collection of vintage cars on display.

"We specialize in vintage, but we want to attract a wide crowd and have the whole family come," says Dan Brown, owner of Island Vintage Events. "Something for everyone is our motto."

Brown started the Island Vintage events two years ago.

"I've been a vintage dealer for just over 20 years. I do events in Las Vegas and California and I see what they're doing down there. So, being a vendor myself, I knew what I wanted in an event and I wanted to bring some of that pizzazz down here to Victoria," he said.

This is the second year of the February fair at Mary Winspear; a similar event in August 2024 drew in a big crowd of 2500 people.

Tickets to Vintage Fair & Entertainment are $10 on Friday, $5 on Saturday at marywinspear.ca. Children 12 and under enter free of charge.
