Fall and winter are special times for beer fans as annual favourites, and new seasonal specials hit the shelves.

We’ve already seen V.I. Brewery’s classic Hermannator launch in mid-October.

For 30 years the caramalized aroma of the high-gravity ice bock (nine per cent) has warmed the souls of cold Victorians. In October Driftwood launched its annual winter favourite, the Blackstone Porter, a toasty dark ale that pairs well with dark and stormy nights.

But fall is also the time when summer inventions hit the taps. Driftwood launched its new Limb from Limb RyePA to a great reception. Rye brings a different style of robust body to the northwest style IPA, a genre Driftwood knows a thing or two about.

“Warming malt notes blend with the melon, clove and allspice profile,” for the RyePA, which “hacked its way from the forested depths to enrich those darkened days.”
