Oak Bay Rec sports songs on stage Saturday

A pair of award-winning Canadian musicians bring decades of experience telling stories through song to the Oak Bay stage this weekend.

Doug Cox was initially drawn to the blues, particularly bottleneck slide guitar. Then he discovered the dobro and added it to his skill set.

He’s since earned an international reputation as one of the best players fusing a wide rage of acoustic roots and American styles.

Now, Nashville-based Linda McRae is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. Also a member of the iconic band Spirit of the West, her banjo, guitar and accordion playing is often described as authentic, satisfying and refreshing.

With a plethora of entertaining stories to share, the two perform in the Sports View Lounge on April 22.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for dinner service, concert starts at 7:30.
