VIDEO: Thousands enjoy Family Day fun in Saanich

Cedar Hill Recreation and Arts Centre hosts Family Arts Festival

Planners of the Family Arts Festival say this year’s event was the biggest yet.

Thousands came out to enjoy arts, crafts, theatre, music and more at the Cedar Hill Recreation Centre on Monday, where different booths, activities and performances appealed to visitors of all ages.

Completely free, guests enjoyed a magic show and performances by Chinese Dance Victoria, Shan-e Punjab Dance School, Veselka Ukrainian Dancers and Lekwungen Traditional Dancers.

Community Arts Specialist Brenda Weatherston said a lot of kids were having so much fun that families couldn’t get their kids to leave when the time came.

“It’s been great to see – from little toddlers to school-aged kids and even adults and gradparents getting involved. It’s wonderful to see everybody having fun together.”
