Oak Bay Coun. Nils Jensen will lead a tour of Ross Bay cemetery this Sunday (April 17).
On the two-hour tour, Jensen will speak about former Oak Bay residents – little known and well-known - who are buried there. The grave of pioneer farmer and 1906 council member William Noble, whose home still stands near Oak Bay Village, will be pointed out. But so will the grave of Winston Barnett, a 15-year-old Oak Bay High student who died in a tragic traffic accident in 1930.
Those interested in taking part in the tour and talk, which is hosted by the Old Cemeteries Society and costs $5, should gather outside Starbucks in Fairfield Plaza by 1:45 p.m. The society hosts about 40 tours each year.
