Lambrick Park Preschool and Childcare is hosting a bottle drive in the school’s parking lot in the new year to raise money for the school.

Samantha King, fundraising head, said the Jan. 9 event is a great way for families to come together – especially during a time when extra money is needed for COVID safety protocols and other precautionary measures.

King hosted a bottle drive in September 2021, one that she said was quite successful since many nearby UVic students and residents donated their bottles.

The September drive raised $1,200 – what King said is a significant amount for the small school that consists of only 30 families.

“The extra fundraising is even more important than in previous years and it is just nice that people are able to work together to keep the school open and bring in those extra safety measures through fundraising like this,” King said.

The event is set to occur on Jan. 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lambrick Park Preschool and Childcare at 4205 Tyndall Avenue.

Those who wish to donate bottles are welcome to drive through and parent volunteers will collect bags directly from the trunk. The bottle depot only accepts glass, can and tetra pack beverage containers and no milk or nut milk containers.
