After holding many careers, Lee McKenzie has landed her dream gig. Now writing for Harlequin Enterprises, the world’s most popular romance publishers, the “50-something” Saanich mother draws on her life’s experiences when creating her contemporary adult fiction.
“The field can be quite difficult to break into, contrary to popular belief,” she said.
McKenzie describes her style as light-hearted and sometimes humourous, but always rooted in the concept of two people falling in love.
“I’ve met some romance authors in the past who have received some criticism, but I’m really proud of what I do.”
Her fourth novel, The Wedding Bargain, a sequel to Firefighter Daddy, was released last week.
