A Great Blue Heron hunts a meal during low tide in Oak Bay, near Beach Drive and Beresford Place.
”The Heron thrust its head under water and - this surprised me - speared the fish with its beak. It then tossed the fish into the air and caught it,” said photographer Robert Harwood. “Following the last image in this quartet, it threw its head back and swallowed the fish whole. The fish distended the heron’s throat as it moved downward.”
