READER PHOTO: Heavy rains leave picnic tables swimming in Saanich

Much of Vancouver Island has been dealing with the fallout of what Environment Canada described as “copious rainfall” that fell on the region this week after a vigorous frontal system stalled over the region.

Much of Vancouver Island has been dealing with the fallout of what Environment Canada described as “copious rainfall” that fell on the region this week after a vigorous frontal system stalled over the region.

From midday Wednesday until Thursday evening, 56 millimetres of rain fell at Victoria International Airport, besting a one-day record of 27 mm that dates back to Jan. 3, 1936.
