Oak Bay goes to the birds this fall, thanks to a local birder fluent in French.

Fou des Oiseaux, a Quebec TV show, came to Victoria to work with Oak Bay bird expert Geoffrey Newell.

The bi-lingual Newell identified more than 80 species for the show, here on a six-week tour of B.C. and Alberta.

Host Pierre Verville, CBC personality, writer, Just for Laughs comedian and amateur ornithologist, visited Cattle Point and Uplands Park as well as other locations in the Victoria area filming for the second season of this French language series on birds that airs this fall.

Newell is best known locally as the leader for the Oak Bay Christmas Bird Count and longtime leader for birding groups regularly at Uplands Park and various CRD parks.
