A pumpkin carving competition was held at Oak Bay High to get students into the Halloween spirit.
Students in the Community Leadership Program at Oak Bay High organized the contest. It took about 3 weeks to organize and arrange for the pumpkins. Thrifty Foods kindly donated 15 pumpkins.
“A lot of people actually came out which we were really happy about,” said Delaney Chan, one of the leaders of the Oak Bay Leadership crew who organized the event. “It helps involve the community in getting into the Halloween spirit.”
There were prizes for the top three carvings. Two of the prizes were candy and the grand prize was dance tickets to the Oak Bay school halloween dance.
