A BC-inspired landscape will greet students when they return to Oak Bay Parent Owned Preschool.

Youngsters wound up the preschool year with a visit from artist Mario Labonte of Murals BC, who donated time and talents to create a wall mural for the front entrance of the preschool.

“The children wanted to send the biggest hug and thank you out to Mario Labonte, of Murals BC,” said Amy Grbavec, early childhood educator at the preschool, thanking the artist. “For the last four days you donated your own time and materials to transform our plain entranceway into a warm and inviting space. You invited the children to partake in the mural with you and inspired their creativity each day. You left us with this breathtaking mural that we will forever be grateful for. From everyone at Oak Bay Parent Owned Preschool, thank you Mario.”

Grbavec longed to do something fantastic to this wall for years.

Now it becomes an ongoing fundraiser for the preschool where families can make a donation to have their child’s handprint or family name added to the donor wall.

For anyone who is interested, Labonte paints murals for children’s bedrooms, living rooms, fences, window and commercial spaces. See more of his work at muralsbc.com.
