Oak Bay Village Realtors are taking on the challenge of giving back to the community in the first ever Oak Bay Village Realtor Food Bank Challenge.

From Nov. 19 to Dec. 1, Engel & Volkers, RE/MAX Camosun and Pemberton Holmes are collecting food donations in a friendly competition to benefit the Mustard Seed. At the end of the competition, the donations will be weighed to determine the Realtor Food Bank Challenge champion.

“While it is a friendly competition, really when it comes to supporting the community in this way everyone wins,” says Martin Cownden, president of the Oak Bay Business Improvement Association. “It’s another aspect of the Oak Bay Village coming together in celebration of the season while supporting the broader community.”

Donations can be dropped off at Engel & Volkers, 2249 Oak Bay Ave.; RE/MAX Camosun, 2239 Oak Bay Ave. and Pemberton Holmes, 2000 Oak Bay Ave.

The Island Equipment Owners’ annual Truck Light Convoy and Food Drive will roll through Oak Bay Village at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1. Music, treats and food collection begins on the front lawn of the Oak Bay municipal hall at 5 p.m. Volunteers from Canvas Church Oak Bay will be coming through the crowd collecting donations.

The Truck Light Convoy consists of 80 brightly decorated trucks. Time and decorations are donated by IEOA members who provide valuable services in our communities.

Details about the Realtor Food Bank Challenge and the Oak Bay Christmas Festival are posted at visitoakbayvillage.ca and on the Oak Bay Village Facebook page.
