Oak Bay Local founder is looking to launch a free monthly baby and toddler social.
“Right now in Oak Bay we don’t have any free walkable programs,” said Julie Helms, administrator of the Oak Bay Local Facebook page.
With the high cost of living in Greater Victoria these days, Helms says there is a need to provide a way for young parents and babies to get together that doesn’t cost anything. While other communities have such resources, she says Oak Bay doesn’t. She is calling on the municipality to provide funding to change that.
Oak Bay Local organized the event and covered the room rental this time, and snacks and refreshments were provided by Hide+Seek, Wee Nourish and Windsor Cafe. Helms is looking for support from the municipality though to turn the event into a monthly happening.
