Tasty treats being sold by students on Oak Bay Avenue Tuesday support mental health initiatives for Oak Bay High.

Oak Bay High leadership students are on the Avenue outside Pharmasave until 3 p.m. with cupcakes and cookies to raise funds in the lead up to the school’s mental health week when school returns after Spring Break.

“It’s to raise money to have speakers come and present at our school and talk about mental health and to start the conversation,” said Grade 12 student Marika Shafonsky.

The bake sale is a coordinated effort by Oak Bay High School and Connect to Care, a student-led initiative to remove stigma around mental health and substance use and to provide harm reduction aids and resources to youth.
